How the Women Engineers Program Changed My Life
Hello World, I’m a Woman Engineer!!
A single email changed the trajectory of my tech journey
🤔What is Women Engineers(WE) Program?
Offered by TalentSprint and supported by Google, this two-year-long program is designed to empower women in tech. It also provides a generous scholarship of ₹1 lakh, which made it even more accessible and impactful for students like me.
WOMEN ENGINEERS PROGRAM — holds so much meaning in my life. Looking back, I can confidently say this program truly changed me. I’ve grown not just as a curious engineer, but also as a more confident, disciplined, and resilient person.
It arrived at a time when I was still figuring things out and was not happy — unsure of my place in tech — and it turned out to be nothing less than a game-changer. The guidance, the mentorship, the community — everything helped shape the version of me I am today.
✅Selection Process: The Start of Something Big
I first discovered the Women Engineers Program while scrolling through LinkedIn. Something about it instantly caught my attention —maybe I just felt like this was the kind of opportunity I had been waiting for. From that moment on, I kept my eyes on it, hoping I’d get the chance to be part of it one day.
The selection process had multiple stages. The first was a general aptitude test, and thankfully, we were given two sample tests for practice, which really helped in getting used to the format. After that, there was a coding round and then an English speaking round, both of which were easy. The final step was the interview round — my very first coding interview ever.
I still remember removing my headphones after the interview and feeling unsure. I thought I gave a really long explanation to one of the problems, and I kept worrying that it might’ve cost me the opportunity. It wasn’t perfect since i was in my first year of BTech — and that doubt stayed with me for days.
But then, the unexpected happened.
While I was coming back to home from college, I received the selection email — and honestly, I couldn’t believe it. I was so excited and happy that I literally started jumping not caring what anyone around me thought. That was the moment I knew something had shifted. This wasn’t just another program — it was the beginning of something that would shape my entire journey.
🌞Summer Bootcamp: A Journey Beyond Comfort
The 21-day Summer Bootcamp in Hyderabad which took place in June 2023 was nothing short of life-changing. As a day scholar who had never traveled alone before, stepping into a completely new city was definitely out of my comfort zone. But sometimes, it’s those particular moments that shape you the most.
From the very first day, I was surrounded by brilliant young women from colleges across India . We quickly became friends, bonding over code, conversations, and late-night discussions about life.
During the bootcamp, we dove deep into Python, learning not just how to code, but how to write clean, efficient, and readable code. Beyond programming, we focused on soft skills, collaboration, and what it really means to be a thoughtful engineer.
On weekends, we’d step out to explore the beauty and food of Hyderabad — from historical places to street food adventures, every moment felt new and exciting.
One of the most unforgettable experiences was the visit to the Google Hyderabad office. Walking through those corridors filled with innovation, I felt this quiet spark inside — a dream that one day, I might also become a Googler. That visit shifted something in me. It wasn’t just inspiration, it was clarity. I saw where I wanted to be.
Traveling solo for the first time made my parents proud — and honestly, it made me proud too. That summer didn’t just teach me coding — it gave me confidence, independence, and a vision.
❄️Winter Bootcamp: Redefining My Limits
The Winter Bootcamp took place in Hyderabad, during the last week of December 2024. This time, we were stepping into the world of Web Development.
Back then, I didn’t really like web development. Everyone around me seemed to love it, and somewhere deep down, I felt like it wasn’t for me — that I could never be great at it. But I chose to attend anyway, hoping to challenge that mindset.
The twist? We were assigned a completely new tech stack — one that most of us had never even heard of before: the Phoenix Framework. At first, I was confused and scared. How were we supposed to build something real in just a week using tech that was completely unfamiliar?
But what happened next completely shifted my perspective.
My team and I threw ourselves into the challenge. We brainstormed, coded, debugged, and supported each other endlessly. And somehow, by 1st January 2025, while the world was celebrating New Year’s, I was happily working my heart out — building something I didn’t even believe I could do a week before. By the end of that one week, I along with my team had created a fully working web project from scratch, and I felt nothing but pride at what we had accomplished.
The experience gave me the confidence to say, “I can do hard things.” It broke the mental block I had about web development and showed me that I could excel, even in unfamiliar situations.
We had our sessions at the TalentSprint office, and every day after class, my friends and I would walk back to our PG — chatting and laughing. Reuniting with friends from the summer bootcamp made it feel even more special and emotional.
More than anything, that winter taught me that as a Woman Engineer, it’s not about knowing everything — it’s about showing up and not being afraid to surprise yourself.
🎓Graduation Day: A Bittersweet Goodbye
March 15, 2025 — my graduation day from the Women Engineers Program. It’s hard to believe how fast time flew. What began as a two-year-long journey was now coming to an end.
From daily sessions at 7:30 PM, assignment submissions, to the most meaningful discussions with mentors and peers — everything we once took for granted suddenly felt precious. This program had been such a huge part of my daily schedule and now, it was time to say goodbye.
I had booked my travel for the same day — took a morning flight from Delhi, landed in Hyderabad around 11 PM, and headed straight to the Talentsprint office for the ceremony. We laughed, clicked photos, and reflected on how far we’d come. And then, by 5 PM, I was back in a cab rushing toward the airport to catch my return flight — the first time I ever had such a tight one-day travel plan.
It wasn’t just a graduation. It was a celebration of growth — of how far I’d come since that very first aptitude test. I came into this program as a unhappy, unsure student… and I walked out as a confident, self-assured engineer who had learned, built, explored, and evolved.
To every young woman in tech — dream big, take chances, and never stop believing in your journey. TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR DESTINY!
